About the Accommodation

Offering seclusion and privacy yet still so close to the action, Park House is the perfect place for a quiet getaway for a couple or a holiday retreat for larger groups. The house offers the best of holiday living. Cathedral ceilings with timber beams in the living space and upstairs bedrooms combine beautifully with wood panelling and whitewashed brick to create a contemporary cosy country feel.

The house is located just a minutes' drive from the heart of the historic village of Yungaburra and just a couple of minutes from the Tinaburra boat ramp.

Park House is designed to help you relax whether on the patio out the back overlooking the expansive lawn, in the lounge room or while preparing food in the chef's kitchen. A TV, media system, Wii, Apple TV Media Library, Netflix and DVD player are all available for use along with a reading corner with a small library. For those that like to spend time on the water, Park House is in a perfect position. When the dam is at 80% or above (check here: Tinaroo Dam Level), bring your watercraft up to the private pontoon, or paddle and swim directly from the garden. When the water level is lower, there may not be water access to the property however, the boat ramp at Tinaburra is just 2 minutes away by car. Easy for fishing and watersports, Park House is also quiet and private, so wildlife abounds. Great bird life can be seen in the reserve opposite the back garden and cows live in the field across the road from the front of the house. At night you can spot bandicoots, echidnas and even possums, and there is usually a family of Kingfishers playing in the garden.

Perfect for large groups, a large living space and chef's kitchen make for really sociable spaces and when combined with the spacious outdoor living spaces, the house offers plenty of space to relax and recharge. Downstairs features a large living area, reading nook, dining area, kitchen, toilet, bathroom (with laundry) and 4th bedroom (with curtain divider to close it off) plus huge outdoor area with additional dining, lounge and bunk room. Upstairs is the master king bedroom, two double bedrooms, bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilet. All bedrooms have storage and are spacious.

There are number of configurations to suit your size group - guests may rent the main house which includes the outdoor room and all grounds, or the whole property which includes the main house + bunk house for larger groups. Regardless of the configuration, Park House is offered on an exclusive one group at a time basis, so you'll be left in peaceful seclusion for the duration of your stay regardless whether you are a couple, or a large group.

Notes

We are pet friendly; however, there is a pet fee, and prior approval is required which is assessed on a case by case basis. Pets also may attract an additional bond of up to $750 which is fully refundable provided there is no damage/indoor soiling attributable to their stay. Guests with pets and small children should be aware that the property is in a semi-rural setting, and is not fenced. When the lake level is above 65%, there is no fencing or barriers between the property and deep water of the lake.

The unfenced access to water could present a drowning risk to children. Guests remain responsible for children at all times. There a beehive located on a far corner of the property well away from the house which will not interfere with guests, provided it is not interfered with and guests remain clear of the hive. Guests must keep children away from the beehive. Wildlife is abundant, and we do everything possible to keep the place clean, safe and rodent free. However whilst there are no abnormally dangerous creatures for Australian standards, due to the rural setting there is the possibility of insects, snakes, and the occasional rodent depending on the season and weather. There are plenty of nighttime birds and other small harmless animals that make all sorts of interesting noises, some of which could be alarming to international travellers who are not used to Australian wildlife - they are all harmless! Guests remain responsible for their own safety, and common sense must prevail at all times.

Neighbourhood

Park House is situated on the fringes, but just within walking distance of Yungaburra village. Whilst there is a neighbouring property next door, mostly Park House is surrounded by rural farmland across the road at the front, and lake frontage with nature reserve at the back which is overlooked by the large outdoor kitchen and patio living area. It is a very peaceful and secluded setting, however guests are expected to remain respectful of the neighbourhood.

Transport

Park House is just over an hour's drive from Cairns either via the Goldsborough Valley and Gillies Range Road, or via Kuranda Range and Mareeba. Either route is an enjoyable scenic drive, via Mareeba is slightly longer, but less of a windy drive than the Gillies Range.
